St George - Snow Canyon

While in St George we took a day and drove through Snow Canyon and hiked around for a little while. It was so pretty. We would like to go there again when the kids are a little older and able to hike more. It looked like there were some really pretty hikes.

Our cute little family

The older kids

Man, how would it be.. In this nice comfy pack, just enjoying the scenery.

My crazy husband and father to my children who is half monkey... and mostly CRAZY!!

He really wanted to stick his head through this hole up high on the rock. Although he was a little bumbed when I wouldn't let him take the kids up there with him, on his back while scaling the rock wall!!

The whole fam! But Briggs wanted down to play in the sand.

Aspen posing for a face shot.

Kaylee- with her cheek full of bubble gum and all :)

Caden with his best buddy in the whole world.. His DAD!!

Briggs

Kaylee trying to climb up a wall of rock

Then Aspen
Me waving from the top of a rock I had climbed up

Me trying to come down the rock.. its sure a lot easier going up it then it is coming down :)

We had lots of fun climbing on the rock and hiking around!!

Well, that pretty much sums up our trip to St george- sorry so many pictures, but its for me. We had a blast and best of all Dave had a few days of work off so it was sooo fun to be together as a family. I feel super lucky to have such a fun, amazing family-mostly thanks to their dad!

St George - fishing

Since we weren't able to catch any fish at Sand Hollow we went to a little community fishing pond in St George the next day. We went there just to check it out to see if we wanted to go there the next day, but decided we would try it out while we were there.

First the kids fed the ducks. They thought that was pretty fun.

Grandma Snyder teaching Briggs how to fish.

The fish the girls caught. They caught 4 fish pretty fast.

Grandma and Aspen

This cracked me and the kids up when the ducks would do head stands in the water.

Caden didn't care to fish- he dug his buckets out of the boat and played in the wood chips most of the time.

Briggs just liked to eat the wood chips, although he would have liked to go into the water.

Aspen is saying EEWWWWWW... this is probably one of the first times shes ever held a fish. She wouldn't when she was younger but I think a little of her older sister is wearing on her. Its a good thing she caught a fish fast because she was feeding the ducks and got a little close to the edge of the water and the slippery rock and fell in. Well, just kind of slid on a rock into the water and got all wet and she wasn't very happy but the fish got her attention off her soaking wet clothes. :)

The fish Kaylee caught

Kaylee gutting the fish all by herself- its pretty handy to have her around when your fishing.

Aspens very first time gutting a fish. She did really good, even making sure and scraping all the insides out.

Great Job Aspen!!

St George - Sand Hollow

Part 2 of St. George.. Sand Hollow!! We headed out first thing in the morning and beat the crowds for the best picnic spot on the whole reservoir. We had shade all day, the beach was nice. We loved it here-we had so much fun! Dave spent a lot of time out in his little boat, trying to do some fishing with no luck. He would come swap out kids to give them turns after they would get bored sitting in the boat. The rest of us just swam in the lake and played in the sand. It was so much fun!!

Here's Dave and the girls out for a little ride.

Caden playing in the fun red sand- with his famous cheese smile!

Kaylee jumped off the front of the boat and wanted to go swimming, here shes trying to get back in the boat.

Briggs loved the water. He was mesmerized by the little waves coming in and kept trying to follow them back into the water.

We built a volcano

And then the lava demolished it.

There were these big puddles of water that were on the beach that after sitting in the hot sun was nice and warm. Briggs loved playing in the nice warm water.

Again is his nice warm pool

Caden was getting water to demolish the volcanoes they were making.

Aspen loved swimming. The water was actually pretty warm. I think the ranger station said it was 77 degrees that day.

More swimming

Although.. all that playing sure does wear a kid out!

Kaylee with her snorkels.. She never actually dared put her face under the water, she just liked to wear them.

Evidently the sand tasted good too!

More happy Briggs

I bet Caden would have played in the sand for ever if he could. He didn't really care about going swimming or going too deep in the water. He just liked to splash in it and walk out to about knee height but mostly play in the sand.

Aspen with her legs buried

Kaylee playing in the sand

A little view of the beach and the kids playing

Briggs out on a little boat ride with his dad.

We seriously loved sand hollow, and want to go back so maybe Dave will catch some big fish. I did feel bad, we got some pretty bad sunburns. None on the boys, but aspen went out fishing with Dave for a few hrs just sitting in the boat with her legs just baking. The top of her thighs were fried!! Kaylee had few little burns, but not too bad. Dave got some really bad burns on his legs and feet. Me and Grandma got burned but not too bad. We went through a whole bottle of aloe vera but it was so worth it!

St George trip - Silver City

A few weeks ago we took a family trip to St George. We were lucky enough that Dave's mom had to go there for a doctor appt so we took her down and made a trip of it. I have lots of pictures from the trip so I am separating them by days so the posts don't have to be so long. This is the day we left.. We drove the back way through Delta and and down that way, not getting on the free way until Cedar City. On our way we passed the old mining town where Dave's grandma Larson was raised. His Great Grandpa worked in the mines in the little town of Silver City and actually died of black lung disease from working in the mines. So we stopped in there and checked it out. It was fun seeing the remains of some of the buildings and a big mine shaft.

Dave showing Caden down the shaft.. Hes not as close as he looks. Trust me I wouldn't let him get too close. Me and Dave looked down there and I couldn't believe how deep it was. I couldn't see the bottom!

The kids standing in front of the deep shaft. Briggs missed out though-he was asleep in the car.

The kids loved looking for the shiny rocks. We imagined grandma Larson running around on the same hills when she was little like them! It was fun to see.

I didn't get a picture and I'm totally bumbed I didn't- but we went to the Eureka cemetery and saw the headstone of Grandma Larson's sister who died as a baby and was buried there. It was fun to see it and to learn about grandma Larson and a little about her family. Susan- you will have to correct me if any of that info is wrong.. we all know I don't have the best memory!!
