Our little scientist

Kaylee had to do a science project for the science fair at school a few weeks ago. She was super excited. So was her dad. He had big plans and super fun ideas, but much to his disappointment the 1st graders couldn't have open flame in the school (weird huh?) so a lot of his plans were out the door. Kaylee decided she wanted to do a volcano. She is lucky to have such a great dad who likes to do this kind of stuff.

Here's the two of them working on her poster.

Perfecting the recipe for a great explosion.

The finished product ready to go to school. We made homemade play dough then painted it. She did really good. She named it her "bubbly volcano"

Showing it off at school

Putting on a show for the spectators at the fair that night.

What happens around our place on cold snowy spring days..

I have to admit- as much as we love the moisture, we were a little bumbed about the snow today. We are ready for some warm days to work and play outside! We decided to just hang out today. It was great. Slept in, lounged around, cleaned the house as a family. Kind of boring but fun to just be together with nothing planned. Here's some of our days fun..

I put Briggs down stairs to play while I worked in the kitchen- knowing he would be safe there, he couldn't crawl over to any stairs and fall down them. After a few mins Dave had me come look- here came Briggs climbing up the stairs. He always stands up to the bottom one, but never climbed them before. He made it all the way up to the kitchen. So much for a stationary baby!! Nows when it gets hard for the next couple of years. I love to see him grow and do new things, but I also hate for my baby to be gone. Either way, we love him to pieces!

Kaylee was giving Briggs a ride in the little wheel barrow.

They got a little smarter and got him a blanket for a pillow, a towel for a blanket , toys to play with and an apple to gnaw on. Dave called it the "Hillbilly bassinet"

Caden got a hair cut. Hes so funny- he loves to get his hair cut. Only this time he accidentally opened his mouth and got some hair on his tongue then tried wiping it off with his hand which was covered with hair. He wasn't too happy about that.

We decided Briggs needed a hair cut too. He had the cutest old man hair do. Really thin and short on top then above the ears and around the bottom of the back it was getting pretty long. It really did make him look even more like an old man! You cant see the hair hanging over the ears very good in this picture, but its there.
Love the side wings! I made them stick out so we could see them.

He wasn't too thrilled about it some of the time.

But, over all he did really good. Its just hard to get him to hold still. He wanted to see what dad was doing the whole time and would turn around trying to check him out.
AFTER..

I think he likes his new big boy look!

The girls being goof balls in the laundry baskets.

Now when Briggs is crawling around and comes to anything thats up off the ground he stands up to it. Its crazy! He will be walking before we know it!! Now lets all hope for some warm days!! mixed with fun rain ( not to be confused with SNOW)
Happy Spring in Utah!

The beginging of the season

Last weekend for we headed out for our annual conference weekend camping trip to the basin. (some property by our house) We are so excited that it is finally camping season. Were ready for a little warmer weather, but its all good. It was so nice Sat morning. Then the wind kicked up which made for good kite flying weather.

Here's Dave and Caden flying a kite. Caden loved trying to get it in the air. Especially when it would crash land. It wasn't as much fun once it was up in the air.

Such good friends when they are sleeping..

And then we woke up to this on Sunday morning.... I really don't think there is anything quite like waking up to 4 in of snow when your out camping!!

Kaylee doing her crafts while we were listening to conference.
Briggs has so much fun crawling around and playing on the floor of the camper all weekend long. This was his first time camping and he loved it. He was so happy the whole time.

Lots of Cuddle time while listening to conference. Aspen is full of so much love. She loves to cuddle and kiss and hug. Dad is getting a big kiss from her. And Briggs loves to cuddle with dad too. He always has his tongue sticking out now.

The snow started melting on Sunday and the sun came out and it turned out to be a nice day. The kids had so much fun riding the toys in the snow and MUD! It got so muddy! They all made a race track around all the campers with mud puddles and all.

This is Aspen and her cousin Austyn racing around.
And she got a little muddy..
Everything was covered in so much mud! We tried to take the trailer with all the toys home and got stuck in the field for a while. Finally got unstuck and had to chain up the tires on the truck and take an alternate route to get home. Then we barely got the camp trailer out. My dad or my sister couldn't get theirs out and had to leave them until morning when the ground was froze to get out. I'm still cleaning mud out of my house. It was a lot of work but so much fun, and hopefully the kids will remember the good times and the great memories!
