Youth conference and Daves hike in the Uintahs

Back in August Dave and I were asked to go as tribal leaders to our stake youth conference.  We went to some property up in Hannah which as beautiful. We slept in tents in an open field.  We had a good time being with the youth and spending time together.

We had to build this tower, with only wood and string. Ours was pretty strong.

Waiting for instruction

Gathered together with our ward

Our tribal family- Me and Dave with our kids

The first day we were there it was roasting hot, the next it poured and poured. The kinds that just dump and you figure they will be over in a few minutes.. only this one lasted hours! I don't remember a storm like this. There were puddles and streams. The lightning and thunder was crazy. We actually saw one lightning hit a stake that was driven in the ground in a field right next to us. It was actually cool to watch. We were all stuck under the canopy for a few hours playing games and waiting for the storm to pass. A lot of the tents got drenched and peoples beds and stuff but then the sun came out just long enough to dry most stuff to where we wouldn't freeze at night.

Dark clouds all around us.

Our ward doing a skit.

This kid was in our group and he was fascinated by this grasshopper. :)

Our Bishop with our title of liberty "home of the tumbleweeds"

Then we had an all our war that the kids had a blast, but it got a little crazy.

I totally killed Kandice

Then Dave did too.

And Dave got me without even looking.

But don't worry I got him back.

On Saturday morning we were woken at 4:30 am by loud speakers of storms and kids crying and scary noises. We were told to gather our families and to go the the temple. We listened to some Scripture on the loud speakers then saw Christ (our stake president dressed up) high on the mountain side, then he started coming down to us then without saying a word He walked around and hugged each of us. Then we were sent back to our camp to sleep for a few more hrs. It was awesome!!  It was a fun experience for us. We were lucky to have awesome family that stepped in and took care of our little ones while we were gone!

The week after youth conference Dave took the young men on a 3 day backpacking trip in the Uintahs and he took a few pictures... not as many as I would have  :)

THE. HECK.!!! Didn't really know what to say except don't let him touch you, I f he does come straight to me and me and dad will take care of that!  Crazy!!

1st day of school 2012

Kaylee started the 3rd grade this year and Aspen started 1st grade. They are loving school and both have great teachers. Aspens teacher is Mrs. Shanks and Kaylees is Mrs Wride.  They both love the school and so do I. I love that everyone knows everyone and their families for the most part. I love the small classes and the friends my girls have made.

Ready to go!! We spent all morning blow drying and curling their hair like they liked it then as they were getting ready to go Aspen wanted hers is a pony tail. Really? but, o well, at least she went happy, the way she wanted her hair. She wants it in a pony tail every day!!

On their way to the bus stop

Waiting for the bus

Look at that hair!

And on the bus they go!!

Aspen getting off the bus. She survived her first day of all day school in 1st grade.

And so did Kaylee.
I love that my girls both love school. They are both great at doing their homework - usually on their own without me reminding them! They are great students, but I'm not going to lie, I do miss them while they are away all day.  Its crazy- they are gone until about 3:45, we hurry and do homework, dinner, and bed. Seems like they don't have time to do kid stuff. They are good sports.  It is also very different for me to be at home all day completely "boy trapped" as they say. Just me and the boys. They keep me very busy, but I love them!  I am already looking forward to Christmas break to have them around during the day for a few weeks :)  Happy school year girls!!! We love you to pieces!!!
